Affirmations Are Your Path to a New Way of Thinking
Affirmations are a great way to jump start the process of changing your thinking. It is totally within your power to create the world you want to live in. This process starts in your mind. Your thoughts draw to you your reality. If you want a different reality, start with changing your thoughts.
It is easy to believe that the lot we are given in life is the one we must accept and manage. In believing and living this way, we find ourselves always wanting more but believing we cannot have it or do not deserve it. This could not be further from the truth. This is the result of a belief system passed down to us by our family, our friends and society. We do not question it, we accept it as fact and we resign ourselves to living small. We neglect asking for help for fear of looking weak or out of control. Eventually, we begin to live our lives in a series of “I can’t” and “I don’t deserve” rather than “I can, I deserve and I will”.
Now About Affirmations
Beginning the process of changing your thought patterns can be difficult. It’s likely that you’ve spent your entire life building one set of personal beliefs. When you start questioning them and seeking to change them, you will find yourself being met with internal resistance. This is common and expected. Be ready because in the beginning, it feels very much like trudging uphill with a boulder on your back. Take comfort in the knowledge that others that have come before you have carried this same boulder. You are not alone. I can tell you from personal experience that perseverance in this arena yields the kind of results that give you access to peace, gratitude, autonomy and freedom.
“I Am” - Two of the Most Powerful Words In Your Vocabulary
“I am” equals manifestation. Simple yet powerful. Don’t believe me? Try it out. Each day, start your morning with a series of "I am" statements: "I am kind, I am faithful, I am beautiful, I am successful, I am worthy." Write them on your bathroom mirror. Write them in your journal. Say them out loud while you’re driving to work. In the beginning, you may feel like a fraud. You may feel some measure of guilt for writing down or saying things about yourself that you do not feel to be true. This is called Imposter Syndrome and everyone experiences it on some level. The reality is, all the negative things you’ve been secretly thinking about yourself are actually the untruths you’ve been allowing yourself to believe all this time and though these affirmations may not be a true reflection of you right now, they are who you were always meant to be. Keep at it and with time and consistency, you find that you are becoming more and more a reflection of them effortlessly.
Believing You Are Worthy of Happiness
Belief is a powerful thing. It is closely tied to our feelings of worth. When we believe we are worthy - of existing, of happiness, of success, of joy - we behave in a manner that mirrors that. When we believe we are not worthy, our actions reflect as much. Sometimes, there can be feelings of guilt or shame associated with our feelings of unworthiness based on our past experiences. We must understand that our past is just that, the past. We cannot change it. This can be painful to accept as many of us carry scars and traumas that manifests itself ways that can feel stunting and uncontrollable - anxiety, fear, anger, addiction, etc. This is an undeniable fact, but with the proper help, a door to choosing how to step forward out of those traumas can be opened and we can begin to accept, heal and change our thinking around our past experiences. We can use it as information and start to ask ourselves how we can grow out of it rather than continue to sink into it.
Our Words Define Our Actions
What sorts of thoughts are you allowing to run rampant in your head? Do you believe you have authority over them or are you letting yourself believe that this is just the way it is and I’d better find a way to deal? Remember, we always have a choice. Though we cannot necessarily control the happenings around us, what we do have constant control over is our beliefs and how we react. There is absolute power in this realization. You have a choice. Coming to terms with this is the beginning of accepting your earthly power.
How we think is how we act. When we start affirming ourselves in a positive and wealth manifesting way, we begin to behave in a way that naturally draws positivity and wealth into our lives. I challenge you to choose a handful of affirmations to write down daily. See how this opens up your mind and watch how the world begins to change around you. See how the image in the mirror becomes more beautiful over time. You will start to see more light and love in your days. You will experience less fear and anxiety, find more trust and joy, and happiness and success will easily find its way to you.
